Scope of article[edit]

This article seems a bit too narrow in it's definition. For a ROW crop such as maize/corn/zea mays perhaps it would be o.k.(E.g. Corn Planter) but it doesn't cover a corn jab planter or seed/grain drill for wheat very well. Also, John Deere and others make Corn/Maize planters too!

There are also single row garden planters that are pushed by a human and not attached to a three point hitch.

I suggest moving "towed behind a tractor" to a second sentence or qualifying phrase.

NOTE: Wikipedia "Seed Drill" entry states: "A seed drill is a sowing device that precisely positions seeds in the soil and then covers them." "'Drilling' is the term used for the mechanized sowing of an agricultural crop."

This is a European use of the word 'drill' and 'drilling' that is not common in North America. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.159.209.23 (talk) 22:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
