Notability of the term "Canaanite gene"[edit]

Where is the term "Canaanite gene" in the article cite as a ref? I did a google search, but all it brought back were copies of the Wikipedia entry. Tiamat 00:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article should probably be renamed. nadav (talk) 03:08, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The question is to what? I tried to find articles on "Phoenician genetic marker" or some such variation as used int he article cited, but there is no significant literature on this subject. Tiamat 10:55, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The information with its reference comes from here. A Google search gives some hits for "Canaanite gene" but more for "Phoenician gene". As Phoenicia corresponds with Lebanon, the subject of the reference; I think it would make sense to move it to "Phoenician gene", leaving "Canaanite gene" as a redirect. I'll make the move. i think its notable, in and of itself; there is a reference and the term "canaanite gene" seems to be more historically accurate than "phoenician gene" since the word phoeniciaqn derives from an egyptian word for the area which included syria whilst canaan is a much more ancient word describing lebanon and palestine and may be from a native word (although maybe not). see articles on canaan and phoenicia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.27.216.161 (talk) 21:56, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

also a general reference to Y-haplotype studies might be relevant? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.27.216.161 (talk) 22:08, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Prod tag[edit]

I've replaced the notability tag with a prod deletion tag given that there are no reliable sources attesting to the existence of a "Phoenician gene". Please provide any sources you have in the next five days. Failing that, the article will be deleted. Tiamuttalk 14:21, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
