Privy Council[edit]

A question had arisen as to whether Philippe Couillard is a member of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and entitled to be styled as The Honourable Philippe Couillard, P.C., etc. The evidence cited below shows that in June 2010, Philippe Couillard was appointed to the Security Intelligence Review Committee and was also appointed to the Queen's Privy Council for Canada (for life).

The Prime Minister's press release of 23 June 2010 states: "Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the appointments of the Hon. Dr. Arthur Thomas Porter as Chairperson, and the Hon. Carol Skelton and the Hon. Dr. Philippe Couillard as members of the Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC). [...] In accordance with the requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Act, Dr. Couillard was sworn into the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada." You can see his name (The Honourable Philippe Couillard) under the letter "C" at the official Current Alphabetical List of Members of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada, which is here: http://www.pco-bcp.gc.ca/index.asp?lang=eng&page=information&sub=council-conseil&doc=members-membres/alphabet-eng.htm .

You can also see his name (The Honourable Philippe Couillard, P.C., M.D.) under the date "24 June 2010" at the official Appointed SIRC Members list, which is here: http://www.sirc-csars.gc.ca/abtprp/ambnmn-eng.html .

I hope that the above evidence proves to you that he has been a current member of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada since June 2010, and it is a lifetime appointment (unless revoked). As such, he is always entitled to the prefix of The Honourable and the post-nominal "P.C.", and please do not remove those from this article. Thanks for your help. The table heading that reads "2018 General Election" needs to be edited by specifying the riding in which he ran. (The data could not possibly reflect province wide results.)RChase (talk) 21:45, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
