A little unclear on the wording in the "Works" subheading, pasted here as it is written:

"In addition to these publications, in 1875, Bliss compiled, and in connection with Ira D. Sankey, edited Gospel Hymns and Sacred Songs. She brought many Methodist hymns in her suitcase with across the Atlantic. One of her most repeated by Bliss was "Man of Sorrows! What a name"."

Untitled[edit]

I have a website about Bliss at http://www.geocities.com/charlesmx52/PPBLISS/main.htm

...which is where the memoirs originally appeared online (I typed it in myself) and also includes some song lyrics, sheet music, photos, etc. I have more material, but it's a free site and I've filled up the space I had available.

It is my understanding that "Paul" was NOT the middle name of hymnwriter Philip P. Bliss - he had a middle initial, but it didn't stand for anything. His son *was* named Philip Paul Bliss and was a classical music composer, which confuses things a bit, although any of the son's compositions would be from well after 1876.

P,P, Bliss was born in Clearfield County, PA as stated on the cenotaph (monument) in memory of Philip and Lucy Bliss in the Rome Cemetery, Rome, PA; not in Rome.

Agree on the Clearfield County birth - "(although possibly in Rome,PA") should be removed. This is confirmed in the Memoirs written the year after his death with input from his colleagues for the benefit of his mother - an interesting story covered in the preface. I don't think I saw a reference to it anywhere, but there is a P.P. Bliss Gospel Songwriters Museum in Rome, Pennsylvania. There is information about the museum on my website.

Undid more vandalism by Shibbysduude. Please compare recent changes for repeat vandalism before making changes.... the fictional bits about robbing a bank, prison, and raising chickens were missed by manual corrections.
