New York Ban on PS???[edit]

I live in NY. Polystyrene is all over the place. How is it banned? Longinus876 (talk) 16:25, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The ban on polystyrene use in New York became effective on January 1, 2022, so I imagine that it's still being worked out of distribution. Polystyrene isn't just going to disappear from New York immediately...or ever. Born of Iron (talk) 17:14, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Australia has not banned polystyrene[edit]

The article and map say that Australia has totally banned it. That's not true. The claim in the article is based on a source (of which there are several similar from that time) which is all about an announcement from the federal government of the time saying they were going to ban it by the middle of 2022. By the middle of 2022, that government had lost power in a federal election. The ban hasn't happened, as can easily seen from Goggling "polystyrene australia banned". That search will also show that, as in the USA, the authority to ban such a product largely falls to the state governments. That means there are some partial bans implemented by states, but it's a fragmented situation which I'm not sure I can be bothered sorting through and documenting.

The current claim needs to be removed from the article. I can remove it from the table, but I don't know what to do with the map. HiLo48 (talk) 08:49, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
