Trying to identify[edit]

I have just finished wikifying Robert Knolles. I do not know the source of the material but it refers to: John de Montfort - could this be the grandson of Peter de Montfort, John, 1st Lord Montfort? Cutler July 1, 2005 23:22 (UTC)

Not sure how to do this talk thing but I am curious that Elizabeth de Montfort, Baroness Montagu Father Sir Peter Montfort Mother Maud de la Mare In this link, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_de_Montfort both son and granddaughter is listed of children to Peter de Mortfort Peter de Montfort (or Piers de Montfort) (c. 1205 – 4 August 1265) Can some shed some light to this? Thank you

His eldest son, Peter de Montfort (d. before 4 March 1287), succeeded him.[17] On 28 June 1267 he was pardoned by Henry III for 'all trespasses at the time of the disturbance in the kingdom',[17] and eventually recovered part of his father's lands.[17][4] He married Maud de la Mare, daughter of Sir Henry de la Mare (d.1257), of Ashtead, Surrey, by whom he had a son, John, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Alice

Elizabeth de Montfort, who married William Montagu, 2nd Baron Montagu, by whom she was the mother of four sons and seven daughters, including William Montagu, 1st Earl of Salisbury; Simon Montagu, successively Bishop of Worcester and Bishop of Ely; Elizabeth Montagu, Prioress of Holywell Priory; and Maud and Isabel Montagu, successively Abbesses of Barking Abbey.

Peter de Montfort[edit]

According to The Peerage, the accepted genealogical reference for Britain and Europe's nobility, Peter was indeed Simon's son.
