Hello, I work with Pete Smith and I have put in some changes to his Wikipedia page - namely, updating his games played for certain clubs, updating his employment history to the present date e.g. his time at The PFA, his time and achievements at New Era Global Sports, with references and I was aiming to add some imagery.

I can see that these changes were undone by an editor, so my question is, how can these changes be made? Edit4smiles Edit4smiles (talk) 08:55, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello . When making edit request, we want you to make them specific such as:
  • Change X to Y
  • Insert B between A and C
  • Remove R
This way, it speeds up the edit request process. Along with that, you need to provide a reliable source when neccessary. Reply back when you make your request. When appropriate, we'll implement it on your behalf or we'll give you the go to signal to implement it yourself. For further instructions, see this. {{replyto}} Can I Log In's (talk) page 22:55, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Edit4smiles: Hello. There were two problems with your initial attempt to edit the page. First, everything on Wikipedia should be verifiable with reference to reliable published sources, whch generally need to be independent of the subject. This is particularly important with biographies of living people. Second, we're supposed to write in a neutral manner about the subject: your prose came across as promotional, with lists of celebrities, garments available in a line of clothing and who'd been "snapped" wearing them, phrases like "high profile guests" and "boasting household names". Because this is an encyclopedia page about Mr Smith the former footballer, and not an advert for his services as a manager of celebrities, it needs a different tone and balance of content from his CV or portfolio.

Specifically on the football stats, the figures in the box at the top right are for first-team league matches only, not cups as well, and they also need to be backed up by a published source. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:21, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
