OK, I've changed it to 24 November, to be consistent with French WP and their main source, which says he died on "Saturday 24 November". -- Jack of Oz[pleasantries] 20:55, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There is a great deal of contradiction in the biographical material on Gavarni. Some of it appears to have been invented for dramatic effect. Frank Leslie's Popular Monthly seems particularly unbelievable. The article in MacMillan's Magazine seems far less sensational. These two sources conflict noticeably. I have simplified some of this "history" so that it gives the basic facts without leading to conflict between versions of the story.
