Walking the Plank[edit]

This sentence appears in WWE.com's results for Smackdown 4-14-16: "But instead, Burchill rammed Brown into Regal and hit him with Walking the Plank for the win." It may be time to consider that as an official name.

It's listed as such on http://www.wwe.com/play/fantasy/finishingmoves/ FleetfootMike 17:58, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heritage[edit]

If I remember correctly, Burchill said he was related to one of Blackbeard's crewmates and not to Blackbeard himself. Although Tazz and Cole would say a different thing every week. RealFerrari 04:55, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He's going to Raw not Smackdown[edit]

he has been doing dark matches for Raw and is going to be on the Raw roster someone change it from return to smackdown to just Raw —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.91.210 (talk) 21:00, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rugby?[edit]

Cole said this week that Burchill got the name 'Ripper' as he used to rip through opposition in Rugby(presumably Union). He said he played for London Wasps. Anyone able to verify? 87.127.178.28 (talk) 21:37, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I find it highly unlikely. In fact, I only popped online to see if I could find any verification. I can't see any, whether he's listed as Burchill or Birchall. Poker Flunky (talk) 13:23, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's a line on the article at the moment, at the start of the Wrestling Career/British Promotions section, which states that Burchill "played in the Rugby Football League as a center where he earned the nickname "Ripper"". This is pretty much lifted straight from WWE commentary, and as previously stated here, verification doesn't seem to exist. Also take into account the inaccuracies and discrepancies, such as the fact that the Rugby Football League is a governing body of Rugby League, not a competition, and that London Wasps are a Rugby Union team. The whole deal about Burchill's rugby past is sketchy - in my opinion, far too sketchy and unsubstantiated to be in a Wikipedia article. I won't remove it myself unless people come to a consensus, but I think it's very important that this be noted. Opcws (talk) 22:28, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looking back, I can't even see when this was added to the article, but I've come to the conclusion that it really isn't verifiable enough to be in the article. I'm going to remove it, anybody can feel free to change it back if they find a source.Opcws (talk) 01:13, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New move added to moveset[edit]

I have noticed that recently Burchill has been using double underhook, exploder and captue suplexes in recent weeks. i believe that can be called signature moves but i am not quite sure —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.45.123.145 (talk) 23:24, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say they qualify as signature moves until he's been using them for a few years, or at the very least in a high-profile manner. I haven't noticed him busting them out too much lately, so I'd say they don't come under that category of signature moves. Opcws (talk) 22:30, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Absence?[edit]

Is it notable he wasn't on ECW even though Katie was? Ive Cena Nuff (talk) 05:50, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say so. After his return, we'll just say something like "After a brief hiatus, Burchill returned...", and that\ll cover it nicely. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 12:02, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Paul Burchill[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Paul Burchill's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Rumor of dropping the Pirate gimmick[edit]

I remember reading from multiple sources including Paul himself that Vince was the one that mentioned Captain Jack by name when pitching the gimmick.

here's a link from the WWE's site where he says as much.
