Suggestions for further expansion[edit]

I'm not sure if this is something covered in similar articles, but I think a good topic to explore is how the show is very inaccurate. Iranian characters have names that are completely made up and ignorant that the writers felt would be okay, e.g., Mahtma El-Mashad and Mikham Candahar (translates to "I want Kandahar"). I know the show is supposed to be a comedy, but I think it'd still be a good idea to highlight the inaccuracies in future edits (if the convention of TV series articles allows for this). "Mahtma," I would bet anything that you will not come across an Iranian with this name, or the last name of "El-Mashad," which is a halfassed attempt at a phony Arabic name given the definite article "El" and Mashhad being the 2nd largest city of Iran after Tehran. Moreover, this character, "Mahtma" wears a clearly Saudi garb that only shows her eyes in some scenes. Again, I would bet that you will have a very difficult time finding an Iranian woman wearing this in Iran (except maybe in the south or isolated southeastern regions, or among some traditional Arab/non-Persian populations).

Just some thoughts. —570ad (talk) 01:02, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Luxembourg inaccuracies[edit]

Quality of the series aside, "Patriot" has earned some status amongst Luxembourg residents for its misrepresentation of Luxembourg and Luxembourg City. At one point in the series, Michael Chernus's character takes a tour on a river boat after getting out of his hotel. One small problem, there are no navigable rivers in Luxembourg City - certainly not fit for river cruises. There are navigable rivers on the borders of the country, such as the Moselle and Sauer, but these have no city landscapes of the sort respresented by Prague (as stand-in Luxembourg) during the scenes (not that Prague accurately captures a city of deep sheer gorges and plateaus anyway), nor anything like the Charles Bridge, (which is itself a pretty internationally recognizeable landmark of Prague). I have located one good Reliable Source, the Luxemburger Wort which denotes some of the more hilarious inaccuracies, such as claiming that Brazillians make up a substanial minority of the population (it's actually the Portuguese), but it would be great if someone could find other RSs. 2604:2000:1383:C365:5054:FF:FEC3:27CB (talk) 04:00, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's a fictional series, not a documentary about Luxembourg. Every TV show and film ever made took some creative license with how they depicted their story locations, it's hardly worth wasting an entire paragraph on Wikipedia pointing it out in this one case. 136.27.11.233 (talk) 09:34, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
