Current stubbified version contains no copyvio, and is adequately sourced for notability. Needs expansion, but thta does not mean I have to do it personally. DGG ( talk ) 21:29, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth[edit]

Sources give her birth date as November 7, 1937 but other articles state she was 59 when she died. Can anyone throw light on this anomaly? — Hebrides (talk) 07:37, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According another article in the NY Times, she was 22 in August 1960. See Soprano to Quit Chorus Of a Musical for Opera. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 20:38, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And I find it unlikely that she married in 1953 at the age of 16. What are the "sources" (plural) that give 1937? Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 21:09, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Reference [1] in the article states, "PATRICIA BROOKS American Opera Singer Born New York City, 7 November 1937 Died New York City, 22 January, 1993 Known as much for her acting ability as for…"; reference [2] is headed "Born: November 7, 1937 - Manhattan, New York City, NY, USA". These are the only sources I could find that gave an exact date of birth. — Hebrides (talk) 21:45, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Frustrating. I can't locate her in the Social Security Death Index as Patricia Mann or Patricia Brooks.

Here are some bits from Theodore Mann, Journeys in the Night (2007)

  • p. 65 "Patricia was about 17 [when we met] and had just finished Performing Arts High School. I was 26."
  • p. 66 "Within a month we began living together."
  • p. 67 "After Patricia and I lived together for about a year, I felt we either had to split up or get hitched. We decided to wed."
  • p. 67 "Patricia and I were married in 1953."
  • p.368 At her death in January 1993: "I was blessed to have been with her for forty-one years."

Much of that is hazy on dates, but Mann's birth date is May 13, 1924 per wikipedia. That puts her birth date in roughly 1933 and her age at marriage about 20. And her age at death at 60 give or take, and since she died in January age 59 makes sense.

Mann also says their first son Andrew was born in September 1959 (p. 74), not 1958 as patriciabrookssoprano.com says. That site, BTW, has not been updated since April, 2008.

Then again, Mann can be inexact. He thinks Stravinsky wrote Peter and the Wolf.
