Should not be listed under ongoing military conflicts.[edit]

This conflict is of smaller scale than some conflicts that are unlisted can we remove it from that list? Pug6666 00:32, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

  • What conflicts that are not listed are you referring to specifically? I can clearly remember (and a history check is always an option) that at one point in the last few years there were only 5 or 8 confirmed deaths in the Shining Path insurgency in Peru - they rose in 2012, but its one example of the opposite to what you are saying. Kashmir also had a low death count for a while before the recent upsurge in tensions. In addition, the numbers quoted on the front page are probably much lower than the reality on the ground. While the group is very small and probably doesn't have a lot of popular support, they operate in remote regions of a country the size of California, but with a population of 6,5 million, hence a quite low population density. These stories often get reported in local media only, or get lost in the stream of worldwide events. A quick search for recent articles easily came up with this on the first page alone:

The group is obviously active - it staged an attack during the recent elections that resulted in at least 2 soldiers killed, along with 1 rebel. And just a couple of weeks ago it was suspected of being behind another shooting that resulted in an officer being killed. If anything, we are missing an article on this agreeably low-level, but nonetheless ongoing conflict. If someone with a knowledge of Spanish would search the local press online (if available), I am positive more will come out and we can expand the article to maybe meet some of the standards other conflicts in the "List of ..." possess. Of course I could be wrong, but for the moment I have to say Oppose Skycycle (talk) 02:32, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So how many fighters are there?[edit]

First paragraph says 50-80, but the infobox says it is more than a hundred. Holy Goo (talk) 15:57, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
