Lowercase pak'ma'ra[edit]

Yes, race names are usually capitalized, but in this case, the creator of the race writes this race's name, and only this race's name, in lowercase. See, for example:

A google search reveals most top entries spell the word correctly. This includes www.stephenaustin.com page of the actor playing the Pak'ma'ra ambassador on the show. Actually, he capitalizes the first letter of each of the three syllables, as a response possibly to the small p. Proper English requires a capital for proper nouns, even for fictional names. And, if you ask Joe Straczynski, he may tell you that the reason for the small p is to indicate the racial prejudice of others against the Pak'ma'ra. Wikipedia not being a place to show support for racial prejudice, will rightly capitalize in accordance with proper English. The fact that it is not capitalized suggests it is not intended to be a proper noun. To say that it needs capitalization because it's a proper noun would be circular reasoning. There's no reason an alien species' name must be a proper noun. Species names are generally NOT proper nouns: human, ape, bee, shrimp, oak, mint, mushroom, etc. And I'm sure these names are not targets of racial prejudice. -- Yel D'ohan (talk) 09:13, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Humanoid in form, the Pak'ma'ra have tentacles around a mouth cavity containing an inflexible beak, somewhat reminiscent of the mind flayers of Dungeons & Dragons, or the fictional entity Cthulhu[original research?].
