In the movie Sands of Iwo Jima, one of the marines who landed at Iwo Jima like to read. I got killed early in the battle. As he falls down, the camera zooms in on one of the books he held in his pocket: "Our Hearts were young and gay". I guess that in 1949, when the movie was released, the book was still popular and well known in the general public. Today, besides by reading the wikipedia article about the book, it's harder to guess what the film maker wanted to show with that scene. AugustinMa (talk) 09:07, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
