Proposed rephrase of introduction:

"is a non-linear optical process that consists of the generation of a quasi-DC polarization in a non-linear medium at the passage of an intense optical beam." confused two of us that it was a "DC polarization" of some EM field. Somehow.

Sure. It's unfortunate that polarization has those two very different meanings in electromagnetism. If you write it as "material polarization" then that's clearer. "Dielectric polarization" is another option. --Steve (talk) 00:21, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
