past deletions[edit]

FYI to arriving editors. This article was twice previously deleted, for reasons that were found not to be valid in discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2013 February 11, where it was ruled that it should be restored. Photo not of historic school?[edit]

I just removed from the article the photo at right, which had caption "Front of the school" [caption added by Nyttend in this edit in 2017 --Doncram (talk) 12:38, 15 August 2022 (UTC). It does not appear to be a building from the 1850s, and there is a website ... oh I see it was deleted from the article again, and I just restored it again ... which says the building no longer exists.[reply]

What got removed and I restored was:

According to a website documenting old Ohio schools in Coshocton County it is gone, demolished.^[1]

It is routine in NRHP articles for us to accept unsourced statements (although they may be tagged as "citation needed") that a building no longer exists. A completely unsourced statement would be okay. Here we have, further, a website built by someone who cares about historic schools explicitly saying the building is gone, which is better. It seems wrong for the Wikipedia article to a) imply the building exists by showing a photo which is likely not the building, b) obfuscate/deny the question of existence by deleting mention of the true factual fact that a website asserts the building no longer exists.

There is messed-up reasoning here that a less-than-perfect source must be deleted. The source is not being used to prove notability of the topic. And what is in place does not state anything in Wikipedia's voice that is not 100 percent true. --do ncr am 22:56, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ohio Historic Places Dictionary source, whose page on this happened to be available today, gives description including a Greek Revival entranceway and a gable roof which seem incompatible with the photographed building. --do ncr am 01:55, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
