The airport is not listed as João Paulo II anywhere.
The airport's own website calls itself simply Ponta Delgada, and has no mention of João Paulo.

There is no "Nuño" or "Nuñez" in Portugal. There is "Nuno" and "Nunes", and phonetics differ even more[edit]
The name of the man is Nuno not "Nuño". Though running for Spanish teams, he is Portuguese born in Portugal and registered in Portugal.
There is not such a name in Portugal, and if there was, we would spell it "Nunho". Thank you for your understanding.
