Western People[edit]

The article uses the "Western People" as a source. It should be pointed out that the "Western People" (along with other local newspapers) is a shareholder in the station and that its coverage of controversies involving NWR and/or MWR tends not to be exactly impartial. 94.0.215.167 (talk) 10:16, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Donegal[edit]

The article states. Many people in the south of County Donegal would have preferred to have received Highland Radio from Letterkenny instead of N.W.R., or Ocean FM, for that matter, from Sligo Town. Is there anything to back this up ? A preference for (County Donegal based) Highland over either of the Sligo based stations is understandable but why would a Donegal listener be more more likely to prefer Ocean over Northwest than a listener elsewhere in the franchise area ?

Also worth mentioning that many parts of South Donegal can get Highland anyway and many parts of North Mayo and Sligo can get both Midwest and Ocean. Such listeners now benefit from having a choice of stations which they didn't really have with Northwest (as most of Northwests programmes were the same as Midwest). Other than the Donegal statement the article does seem rather biased against Ocean. It doesn't state whether or not Ocean has matched the listenership figures achieved by Northwest or whether Oceans programing has proved to be more diverse, of higher quality or has served the locality better. 90.199.167.57 (talk) 22:03, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
