Preemption[edit]

It said that one of the features of IT2006 was preemptive multitasking. Unless I'm sorely mistaken, all IT releases (as well as essentially all modern desktop operating systems for some time) have had preemptive multitasking. I changed it to what I believe to be correct: integration of the "kernel preempt" patch, which does result in the effects listed, and which is "new". 24.223.215.183 05:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First Google Talk client for Linux[edit]

"The VoIP software is compatible with Google Talk, significant in that it is the first voice-enabled Google Talk client for Linux."

Removed this bit. Google Talk is Jabber based, and there have been Jabber clients on Linux for a long, long time. --Foofy 07:27, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cover[edit]

A note about how the cover sensor works would be apprecited... is it a magnetic sensor, where is it located.

Software: Video[edit]

I think that it is very misleading to claim "support" for mpeg-4 when the Maemo Wiki itself states: Do not use "mpeg4", it needs too much processor power for decoding which causes loads of artefacts when playing on the 770, even if it looks good on a PC. Did you buy one, or are you just going on hearsay? I use Mpeg-4 streaming video a lot, and while there are occasional decoding artefacts, it hasn't been much of a problem in practice. If you want DVD quality, get a portable DVD player. --85.119.130.132 08:12, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Software[edit]

Since the second release of IT2006, it supports 2GB mmc cards by default and no hack is necessary anymore. This should be removed. -spaetz

Incorrect specs[edit]

The BP-5L battery is 1500mAh, and according to the Texas Instruments page the TI 1710 doesn't go above 220MHz. TristanDC 22:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While the 1710 is officially rated at 220, the Nokia 770 definitely runs at 250MHz, they're overclocking it out of the box. I believe I see another mistake in the specs. In the Criticisms section, it states that the 770 has only 64MB of on-board memory. According to Nokia (http://www.nokiausa.com/A4409044):

Memory: Flash 128MB
Memory card: 64MB RS-MMC (Reduced Size - MultiMediaCard)
Option for extended virtual memory (RS-MMC up to 1 GB)

So it seems to me that the 64MB is just storage while it actually has 128MB on-board memory, no?

Nokia N800[edit]

The n800 hasn't been officially unveiled yet(it will by the end of CES)but they're already being sold and all major info is known about it. So maybe someone can add the info. Article misses many community tweaks that can significantly improve Nokia 770 experience and give device new life

improved SD/MMC speed + SDHC support [3] + microSD card hacks [4]
boot from SD/MMC - transferring system to card improves performance (especially with hack above) and give more space to applications [5]
