Genre[edit]

Ok, so I understand sources are necessary to ensure the validity of all the information contained herein, but do we seriously have to define this song as "synth-pop" just because one source uses it? If you listen to this song, you will not hear a single synthesizer: the song is carried by a prominent bass lick, some intermittent guitar strums, drums, and occasional piano chords (not to mention backing vocals). I don't want to change the article without a source but would like confirmation that the genre listed for this song is fundamentally incorrect due to the song's instrumentation.

I second (the above person)'s comment. Synthpop is a sub-genre of New Wave, with synthesizers, drum machines, and sequencers being *primary*. Examples include "Take me on" by A-ha, and "Forever Young" by Alphaville (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synth-pop#Characteristics ). The interviewer, interviewee, author must be mistaken or have a vague idea of what "synthpop" means. 97.75.165.194 (talk) 01:15, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
