Geographic features and notability[edit]

Is the issue of NoMad being a distinct neighborhood in NY at the core of the geographic notability guidelines tag? I do understand that many New Yorkers take issue with NoMad as a marker in the city, however, I don't think that precludes this area from having a page. The Piazza's cordoning off for the purposes of the pandemic make it especially notable and I would argue having a record of this here on Wikipedia is extremely important from a historic/socio-geographic perspective. The issue is not that NoMad isn't notable as its own neighborhood (it is), but that the Piazza itself does not have standalone notability. It was created by closing off part of Broadway, rather than being a plaza that was built from scratch. There are currently not enough reliable secondary sources that describe the NoMad Piazza in-depth, which are necessary for a subject to have a standalone article. Primary Sources[edit]

Are NYT and NYC.gov primary sources? If NYT is not sufficient for meeting notability I think we're going to need to start taking down A LOT of pages. Removing tag. Also added a citation. Vincent Wedge (talk) 03:56, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NYT is a secondary source and is fine to use. However, NYC.gov is a primary source. I've redirected the page to Broadway (Manhattan) for now because, unfortunately, there is no significant coverage of this Open Street; the NY Times article literally has only one sentence mentioning NoMad in passing. The first section mostly talks about open streets in general, which isn't relevant to the article. The second section is about an incident in 2022, which violates WP:NOTNEWS. Excluding these, there are only a few sentences of encyclopedic content left, not enough to support a full article. Epicgenius (talk) 16:14, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
