Ward 2009 List[edit]

The claim that the VQ has made Ward's 10 best engines list since its inception is not true anymore. this statement should be revised to acknowledge the VQ's absence from the 2009 list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.96.2.82 (talk) 16:32, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Power output numbers need cleaning[edit]

Why are some of the engines listed with both HP and PS, some with NM, and some with just PS? This article needs the power outputs to be listed in a consistent manner, preferable with both HP and PS, as well as NM and FT/LBS listed.

For example VQ23DE It must mean 173PS. 173PS are 170HPs. I have write a few of this things. I have take it from Japanese sources, because they have PS. And if we write HP or PS in clips, where can we write the KWs? Or we write in the introduction: “Achievements are indicated in HP (NET)” or so similarly.

New V6[edit]

There are two new engines. VQ25HR and VQ35HR. (SULEV) First use in the G35/Skyline. In autumn 2006...More can i not say.

Malaysia Road Tax[edit]

If you drive a car with this engine in Malaysia, your roadtax will set you off a cool US$1100 a year!

Could we rephrase this to make it sound more... I dunno, encylopedic? Otherwise, let's erase it.--Raguleader 05:38, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possibilities[edit]

There are so many Possibilities Nissan can do with the VQs. They can make a LPG, natural gas or an diesel version. And when comes VEL (in this engines)? :) And how many PS are possible with the new "strong-block"? :D —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.164.214.81 (talk) 01:17, 7 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Incorrect description of Gasoline Direct Injection[edit]

"replace MPFI with direct fuel injection (marketed as NEO-Di)." - linking to Gasoline Direct Fuel Injection. I believe this to be wrong, Neo-DI is diesel injection, not gasoline. Diesel direct injection is quite common, gasoline direct injection is not. July 15, 2009 Nissan announced a dual injector system which they claim delivers similar benefits to direct injection for gasoline engines without the same cost. I do not believe Nissan has ever deployed gasoline direct injection in a production engine? 150.101.157.146 (talk) 06:45, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NEO-Di can refer to either direct-injected gasoline or diesel engines. References to it are hard to find but here is one: [1] and here Nissan talks about NEO-Di direct-injected gasoline engines near the bottom [2]. VectorD (talk) 08:45, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

VQ40DE a "variant" of VQ35DE?[edit]

The VQ40DE is not a variant of the VQ35DE. The Block, Crank, Rods, Pistons, Heads, Cams, Intake are all different.

To say that the VQ40DE just has a longer stroke is not correct, as the engine is very much different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.108.226.189 (talk) 01:35, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

VQ a Renault engine?[edit]

According to Top Gear Season 2, this is actually a Renault engine. Or at least 350Zs sold in the UK had Renault engines instead of VQ engines. Are they right or on crack?

EDIT: never mind, what they said is "[the engine is] French, from the Renault Vel Satis". This typical TG exaggeration for effect, since the Renault Vel Satis simply uses a Nissan engine. But that didn't fit the theme they wanted, that the 350Z was a strange international blend of a car. Either that or they were just totally wrong.
