Name change[edit]

Should we move this page to Nikolai Smolensky to match transliteration of father's name at Alexander Smolensky? --mervyn 14:11, 19 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me it is best to follow scientific transliteration consistently. If his named is spelled correctly in Cyrillic, the romanized version should be "Nikolaj Smolenskij". Also note that the references in catogories spells his name differently. A cleanup would be good. Kjetilho 01:16, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The name change I was requesting -- from Smolenski to Smolensky to match father's name -- has already been made by another user. I think policy is that where someone is known in the West, then the usually western rendering of the name is used rather than full "scientific" transliteration. Rendering of cyrillic[edit]

For some reason the rendering of his name in cyrillic looks wrong. The ий (e-sound, inverted N) looks more like uû. On my Mac it looks fine (Firefox and Safari) but on my Windows PC (Firefox) it looks wrong.AndersH 05:24, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
