What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Nicolás GaitánNico Gaitán – Nico Gaitán which is his common name in football. SLBedit (talk) 19:05, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. – Michael (talk) 20:41, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - no evidence provided that this is his COMMONNAME and I cannot see that is the case from a quick Google search. GiantSnowman 09:14, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - "Nico" is just the diminutive of "Nicolás". When those who narrate the football matches call him "Nico" they are just calling him by his name in the diminutive form, because of the informal context; they are not making up a nickname unrelated to his real name. Manchester United?[edit]

In the news it said that Nico Gaitan transfered to Manchester United but it says he still plays for Benfica. Please change that. [1] and another reference : [2] Please inform me if it is a lousy rumour Joey Whittacker (talk) 18:32, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Joey Whittacker: because Wikipedia is not a news website and we only add things when they actually happen. One of those references is from 30 May, another from 5 June, yet it's 29 June and neither Benfica nor Manchester United have confirmed the transfer. SLBedit (talk) 23:55, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Atlético Madrid[edit]

Gaitán has not signed any contract with Atlético, he still is a Benfica player. SLBedit (talk) 00:04, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

-- Yes, he will actually transfer to Atlético. Look here: [1] Darealclub (talk) 10:31, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Will is WP:FUTURE, no contract has been signed because there is no official announcement. If he signs for a new club, contract will only be effective on 1 July 2016. SLBedit (talk) 13:45, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Now that he signed for Atlético we just wait until July, at least. SLBedit (talk) 18:16, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to Atlético's official website: "The midfielder is now playing the Copa América with Argentina's national team and will later travel to Madrid next July to finish the necessary formalities to join the red and white team." He didn't join Atlético yet, so he still is a Benfica player. SLBedit (talk) 22:18, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
