Merged material[edit]

Someone may want to integrate the addition better? Or maybe it's best to keep Vajrayana and Dzogchen separate? I'll leave it to the usual editors of this page... Skyerise (talk) 02:50, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?[edit]

I'm guessing this is pronounced with an ŋ sound at the beginning in Tibetan and an "n" sound in English, with no "g". Anyone confirm or deny? None Shall Revert (talk) 14:44, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. English words would be something like "none + dro" Badabara (talk) 16:53, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

When did it appear?[edit]

Can anyone add information on when this practice is known to have first appeared (Ngondro)? 93.122.146.190 (talk) 10:58, 18 December 2023 (UTC) In "The Six Yogas of Naropa (Tsongkhapa's commentary)" by Glenn H. Mullin, at page 49 is mentioned that: "The tradition of doing "the 500,000 preliminaries" was introduced into Tibet by Marpa Lotsawa, and soon became standard in most schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Similarly, the legacy of a "great retreat" of three years, three months and three days was also designed by Marpa, and these days is maintained in most schools." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.122.146.190 (talk) 12:49, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
