Is it a worthwhile article?[edit]

These lists that the media come out with based on perceptions of some small segment of the general public are hardly worthy of an article. This particular list shows how often a name is mentioned in the news or who is most liked or who you agree with rather than who is the most powerful. Alan Liefting 11:44, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously, it is the Listener's opinion about who the most powerful people are, and it gets out of date very quickly. In the case of the 2006 list, Don Brash was still the leader of the opposition at the time the list was compiled; he was gone by the time the Listener put the article online. The article provides a value that the links to the Listener article does not: that we provide all three years of information in a single table, with links to our articles on the individuals.

It also provides a reminder that we don't have articles on many of the people who are considered to wield significant influence in New Zealand. If anyone wants ideas for new biographical articles to write, this is a good place to point them to.-gadfium 20:01, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
