System requirements[edit]

Can someone add the system requirements please? Axl ¤ [Talk] 18:41, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No longer on steam[edit]

Many forum posts from June 2012 noted that Neverwinter Nights 2 was removed from Steam without notice. It's speculated that it has to due with Atari losing the rights to Hasbro.--Craigboy (talk) 14:45, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If we can find a WP:RS to back up that claim - and not forum posts - then we should definitely include that. The last thing we want to do is add unsourced or poorly sourced information to a GA. 24.12.74.21 (talk) 15:28, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GameSpy, Glu Mobile, multiplayer issues[edit]

I moved all the new stuff down into the release section and rewrote it, but the sourcing doesn't look too great and I question how pertinent the information really is. I could perhaps see mentioning the multiplayer services going down, but the rest is mostly rumors plans at this point. —Torchiest talkedits 15:24, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It could be moved to the development section, but that entire paragraph should not be in the lead. As you said, maybe one sentence about it should be added to the lead. --Odie5533 (talk) 16:16, 14 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The information about the Multiplayer services is relevant to the game. The game product is (still) sold as providing Multiplayer support. Without Gamespy this Multiplayer functionality is much impaired as no online servers can be found by the game client. The community projects to alleviate this are then also relevant, since they inform the reader the Gamespy problem is fixable. In view of this, an article on NWN2 as a product can't be considered entirely accurate or "good" without adressing the Gamespy issue.
It affects what amounts to one of the core aspects of the game, the ability to play with friends and others. I agree that information on the subject is scarce because of different conflicting allegations and statements made by the various sources. This does not mean the sources are irrelevant in my opion. Mentioning them provides a neutral perspective and informs the reader this is an ongoing dispute.
I moved it into a paragraph below Gameplay, since multiplayer is a disticntly seperate facet of gameplay. I also added one sentence in the lead.

I don't see a strong need to split the gameplay section; it reads fine as it is. The issue is very important to the video game, but addressing it in the Gameplay section and mentioning it in the lead seems sufficient. --Odie5533 (talk) 18:56, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I said Gameplay section, but I meant to say Development. Although it does pertain to gameplay, that section deals with the actual gameplay and not the development of the game including the new development in the game's multiplayer. --Odie5533 (talk) 18:59, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A-class[edit]

I'm requesting another A-class assessment on this one, as last time I took a rather long wikibreak before I could fix everything. If you scroll up a bit you'll see a few comments from the last A-class assessment. I'm working on broken links/sources now, but I could use some help with the images. Let me know what else we can do to improve this one. Thanks! — Mr. V (tc) 15:42, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for having another go at this one! I know that Drilnoth was the main motivator for getting this one to GA-class in the first place, but he is largely inactive now. Torchiest would be a person I would recommend to possibly be interested in working on this. Other contributors with more than 10 edits to this article - whether or not they are currently active editors - include Voidvector, Alan De Smet, Enigmatical, Chensiyuan, Frankie1969, Austicke, Muchness, Jao, and Randomran. @BOZ:Ok great, thanks BOZ! Long time no see, by the way. Would you be willing to help review it for A-class? — Mr. V (tc) 10:35, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What would I need to do? BOZ (talk) 13:11, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@BOZ:It is a mix of WP:GAN and peer review, but with 2 separate reviewers instead of just 1. Basically you go through it with a fine-toothed comb and check it against the A-class criteria of any WikiProject it's involved in (in this case, video games and D&D). An A-class article should be very nearly FA quality. If you find any problems, you can fix them or list them here and I will fix them. Once you're satisfied, just put Support under your notes. If it makes A-class, I'll then go play with the big boys at FAC. :) — Mr. V (tc) 15:31, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I might not be the best person for a review like that, but I will try to see if there are any other ways I can help out! BOZ (talk) 18:44, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Don't know if you ran through these already, but I'll take a look through them just in case!
@BOZ: the mechanical stuff looks pretty good. I believe I have updated all of the references, so the links should work now. — Mr. V (tc) 03:07, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Going to try and take a look at this tonight and tomorrow. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 20:21, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So just a brief look, one of my concerns is with the gameplay section. I admittedly no nothing about D&D beyond watching a few people playing it, but I think that the section fails at providing the basic understanding of the gameplay necessary for the article itself. For example, a good example of dealing with jargon from the article:
  • Neverwinter Nights 2 makes use of the d20 system introduced in Dungeons & Dragons,[2] where a die roll or random number is used to determine the probability and effectiveness of every action, including attacks and saving throws.
Now, a bad example.
  • Upon gaining specified amounts of experience, characters level up which allows them to earn new abilities such as magic spells and feats.[2] [...] Characters can access Prestige classes, more specialized versions of base classes, by fulfilling certain requirements.[11] The warpriest, for example, is available to divine spellcasters such as clerics after they have reached a set level of power.[12]
I have no idea what "feats" are in this context; I'm lucky enough to have popups installed but most readers won't. Prestige classes I expect to be detailed further, because it's kind of weird to keep nebulously referring to "certain requirements" and "set levels"; however in the following sentence I'm not entirely sure how the example ties in with what was just said. Does the warpriest create clerics? Does he turn into one? Some of the confusion could be reduced by using a simpler and clearer verb (if divine is in fact a verb in that sentence), or making terms a bit more simplistically defined for the better understanding of readers. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 19:15, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just regarding this edit, I don't think I've ever heard "party" used as a verb in this context. BOZ (talk) 20:56, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, on rereading there's probably not enough context to make it clear that it's about joining up rather than the common usage of the verb. My mistake. :) Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 15:23, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since there's nothing going on with this, I'm just gonna close this and let it remain GA-class. GamerPro64 19:36, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
