WTF[edit]

How do you get the heading wrong anyway?! The article heading is "Never Go Back (Child novel)". The problem is pretty obvious. Never mind that the author's name is in brackets and in the heading in the first place. If you are going to put the author's name in the article title, and the author's name is Lee Child, you should not write just his last name. Someone looking at that might think it meant that it was a novel for children. I am not a very experienced wikipedia editor - I can't figure out how to edit the article heading. Someone else will have to do this. Look, if it was Faulkner or Hemingway or some other distinctive name of an author of Literature you could absolutely get away with this sort of laziness, but Lee Child is an author of genre fiction: he writes thrillers and brings home sacks of cash. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.208.132.241 (talk) 09:58, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@121.208.132.241: The reasoning for using just "Child" is WP:BOOKDAB which is a Wikipedia guideline that we use the author's surname and not their full name. The WP:BOOKDAB guideline article was created in 2006 and at the time it also suggested using the author's surname. Twice since then there have been discussion threads about if that should always apply.

I noticed that the Never Go Back disambiguation page uses Never Go Back (Lee Child novel). I suspect that was left that way as the name "Child" by itself is not recognizable per WP:CRITERIA and saves someone from needing to click, particularly if someone recognizes or is looking over the page for the name Lee Child with respect to Never Go Back.

In terms of this article, I'm fine with "Never Go Back (Child novel)" as the article says "Lee Child" in the first sentence. We are not keeping people in suspense over who or what "Child" is. If someone enters "Never go back" into the search box then Wikipedia offers "Never Go Back", "Never Go Back (Child novel)", and "Never Go Back (film)" in the pop-up of possible search results. If someone was looking for "Lee Child" they may miss "Child" though should see the word "novel" and select that line. --Marc Kupper|talk 01:54, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
