In lieu of having a lengthy portion of this article dedicated to the registered historic bridges built by the NDOR, another alternative would be to merge that content into the List of bridges on the National Register of Historic Places in Nebraska. I suspect that many of the bridges on that list were also built by NDOR or its predecessors. So, as it stands, we have content identifying historic bridges split between two articles. I believe there must be other bridges in Nebraska, including railroad bridges built by private companies, that are not associated with the state department of roads and that either already are NRHP-listed or could become NRHP-listed.
If the section on historic works is too long in this article, I'd prefer to see the historic department split back out. The historic works were started by me in article "Nebraska Bureau of Roads & Bridges", which was the historic department. It was not too long. That article was merged by you, cbl62, into this one, making it too long in your opinion i guess and now you are suggesting splitting out the works. I don't mind the merger of the historic department into this article, if the works stay here. But if the works are gonna get removed, I would want to restore the separate article and keep the works of that historic department there. --doncram 12:40, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A number of the bridges that you had listed at "Nebraska Bureau of Roads & Bridges" weren't even attributed to that historic name; some were attributed to the Nebraska Department of Roads, at least one to the "State of Nebraska" generically, others to "Nebraska Division of Bridge Design," "Nebraska Bureau of Highways," and "Nebraska Highway Dept." No real cohesion there to suggest they should all be bundled in an article named for a defunct government agency. It seems to me that a single article covering Nebraska's historic bridges is the best solution. That way, all the information on the topic (including attribution, if you wish to add it) could be collected in one easy to find place. Serendipitously, such an article has already been started at List of bridges on the National Register of Historic Places in Nebraska. The narrative portion of that list is sparse right now, so there's plenty of room to expand and improve it. But I don't see any information that was in your "Nebraska Bureau of Roads & Bridges" article that isn't also in the existing List. Cbl62 (talk) 20:55, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
