Unsourced Statement[edit]

This statement "The matriarchal base of Navajo culture faced such great opposition by the American patriarchy that values were compromised. Generational differences of the Navajo culture have great influence on modern domestic violence." is not one I think is inappropriate but likely needs a citation or else falls into original research or wp:synth.

I will look to see if it can be supported and remove it if not. AevumNova (talk) 01:39, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Similarly, the text under the photo at the beginning of the article states that 'Navajo society was traditionally a matriarchal society'. The article on the Navajo says that they were matrilineal and matrilocal but makes no mention of them being matriarchal. These are different things. The source is behind a paywall so I cannot check it. But the existence of male chiefs like Manuelito and Narbona suggests the claim is at best a half-truth. Influencing Factors[edit]

The sources used to form this section of the article are older sources, I will look at newer research and see if it can supplement these sources and better reflect current research. AevumNova (talk) 01:42, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
