Delete??[edit]

There is no such word as Myle in an English dictionary (SOED on historical words). The article contains discussion and is unworthy of being an article as it currently stands. Please explain when and how this article will be justified and improved. Otherwise, I will propose for deletion. Ian Cairns 20:14, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Get a better dictionary. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rktect (talk • contribs) 08:37, August 23, 2005 UTC.
  • The Myle would serve as a page that could look at the status of English measures pre 1593. Many people have no idea how many times the definition of the Mile and its subdivisions have been changed in the last couple of millenia and it might be interesting to look at that.Rktect 06:31, August 27, 2005 (UTC)

"So far as I have tryed be cownt or experience I do find a common myle of our cowntrey to hold of ellns sixteen hundreth, sumtyms they ar longer, sumtyms they ar shorter, and very rudelie ar they cownted but I do hold this may be a just proportion to stand for all, being measured in a right lyne."

"I do find that 50 of our myles agreeth best of all to 60 Italian miles or a degree, wherupon I have followed out all the latituds of Scotland."

Myle is old English and the subject is the Myle pre 1593. Secondly the article is being vandalized by drini who removes content and references without comment and reverts without comment Rktect 12:37, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

the image on this page is registered with wikipedia its copyright specifically contains language that allows it use

Millaria Scotia Regnum 1595 Copyright "Screen prints may be made of these maps for non-commercial educational and private purposes."

What image? Zoe 19:46, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
That release is incompatible with GFDL, as we have no control over what downstream mirrors may do with it. And again, I have to ask, what image? There is no such image on the page. Zoe 23:28, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
I've reverted this image - since the question of the copyright has not yet been dealt with. 'Non-commercial' use is not good enough permission for inclusion - as per Drini's previous comments. Please follow the links he has provided for the appropriate Wiki policy in this area. Thanks, Ian Cairns 01:06, 26 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the point is moot. The fact that you are not listening to what I tell you and deleting things of value without discussion has gor to cease. Rktect 15:58, August 27, 2005 (UTC)

Recreated as redirect[edit]

I've recreated this article as a redirect to Mile, as the Oxford English Dictionary shows this as a variant or archaic spelling of mile. Ken talk|contribs 15:36, August 27, 2005 (UTC)

Where Mile is protected and never references Myle in any way thats kind of a lame apology.Rktect 16:00, August 27, 2005 (UTC)

It's all there is to do right now. When Mile is unprotected, someone will add a note that Myle is an archaic or variant spelling per OED, I'm sure. Ken talk|contribs 17:09, August 27, 2005 (UTC)
