Don't call someone Mayate[edit]

I just deleted "(known as mayate)" from this page. While trying to research this topic, I looked up what Mayate means. It is the Spanish word for beetle and is used as a derogatory term for gay men. I think that this was likely added to cause interpersonal issues as a result of misinformation and mistranslation. Please, don't use this word to describe the partner of a Muxe. Muxe is from mujer[edit]

The word muxe is thought to derive from the 16th century Spanish word for "woman", mujer.

AFAIK, mujer is still the Spanish word for "woman." The sentence needs to be clarified. 76.21.8.213 (talk) 20:28, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
