Etymology

A lot of Indian sources say the name is Yarkandi Uyghur. This is incorrect!!! I have added a source that indicates "Murgo: gateway of hell. (Mur: hell, go: gate)", but it doesn't tell which language it is from. However, based on the component breakdown, it is clearly Tibetan:

མུར་སྒོ (mur sgo)

• mur - no Wiktionary entry, but you can tell what it roughly means from two other entries
  • མུར་ཐུག (mur thug) - nihilist (ref: མུར་ཐུག་པ)
  • ཐུག (thug) - to arrive at (ref: ཐུག)
• sgo (ref: སྒོ)
