Laura Dickinson incidentMurder of Laura Dickinson – "Incident" sounds (even if not intentionally) like a euphemism for a serious crime. There is significant precedent on Wikipedia for the "Murder of" titling. Of course, this will still allow for discussion of the aftermath of the murder. Superm401 - Talk 05:44, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I totally jumped the gun. I was looking at the "murder" cat before even seeing your post and noticed no one does that to wiki articles unless it was a massive story. It looks like if the person was famous before the murder the article just has the persons name. If the murder is what made the person note worthy (sadly) it lists it as the "murder of X person". It only makes sense that the article is listed as murder of laura dickinson. because majority of the article is about her murder and the emu stuff is just sub material 164.107.243.130 (talk) 07:49, 2 March 2012 (UTC)Pwojdacz (talk) 07:50, 2 March 2012 (UTC) sorry forgot to sign in[reply]

Rape[edit]

I noticed Pwojdacz changed the "Rape and murder" heading to murder. Perhaps "Sexual assault and murder" would fit better, since he was also convicted of "assault with intent to commit sexual penetration." The reason for mentioning semen is that it's part of the evidence for sexual assault/rape. Superm401 - Talk 16:25, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I modified the article title because it's a little strong to see the word "rape" as the title for the section. I looked at a handful of other similar murders and I was trying to make the article be consistent with other murder articles. Pwojdacz (talk) 16:32, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I honestly removed the "semen" comment because I felt it was little strong. I feel that maybe DNA or another way of wording it other than "found on her legs" would be a better way of stating it. IDK how this relates to Wikipedia:Offensive material or Wikipedia:Censorship. Taylor did it, and I agree that was one of the major factors that convicted him and should be stated but in a more humane way. Pwojdacz (talk) 17:05, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If we're talking policy, the actual policy is that Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not censored. Wikipedia:Offensive_material says, "Wikipedia articles may contain offensive words and images, but only for a good reason." The "good reason" is that the semen evidence is an important part of why he was convicted of sexual assault. Unspecified, DNA could be hair or something, which wouldn't be evidence of sexual assault. For the section name, what do you think of "Sexual assault and murder"? Superm401 - Talk 20:14, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • sexual assault and murder is totally fine. Pwojdacz (talk) 21:13, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lede[edit]

I think the added lede text is a little long and doesn't quite flow. Is it necessary in addition to what was already there? The rest of the paragraph discusses both the murder and the EMU response. Superm401 - Talk 16:26, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • The reason I think this article is noteworthy is the fact in relation to Clery Act and the EMU response which put it on national news for so long. The lead should mention it in some way. Pwojdacz (talk) 16:34, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It did mention it before your addition. Also, the new text says "incident" twice, which like I said above comes across as a euphemism. Is there anything specific missing from the prior version? Superm401 - Talk 20:17, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • as long as the lead in is neutral I think that is what matters. Pwojdacz (talk) 21:14, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Aftermath: nonsense sentence[edit]

Currently (May 31 2016) reads, "In addition, since then campus safety measures have been made in hall security."

I'd fix that if I could figure out what it is intended to mean. Should it be "In addition, since then improvements have been made in hall security"? IAmNitpicking (talk) 13:29, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
