First Women's Symphony Orchestra[edit]

"It was the first women's symphony orchestra in Canada[1] and also North America. [2]" is incorrect. Antonia Brico was appointed conductor of the New York Women's Symphony Orchestra in 1934. WSO was founded by her according to other sources such as the NYT obit. From Wikipedia:

"In 1934 she was appointed conductor of the newly founded Women's Symphony Orchestra which, in January 1939 (following the admission of men), became the Brico Symphony Orchestra.[1]"

Text and/or other creative content from this version of The Montreal Women's Symphony Orchestra was copied or moved into Montreal Women's Symphony Orchestra with this edit on 2014 01 15. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.
