Knighthood?[edit]

When was Mohammad Hidayatullah knighted, & what class of award was he awarded prior to 1950, when India became a republic? - (203.211.73.1 (talk) 06:22, 4 October 2012 (UTC))[reply]

He was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1946 Birthday Honours list; however, an OBE does not confer a knighthood, so I have removed the "Sir" before his name Aumnamahashiva (talk) 20:13, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
