Most popular?[edit]

Is there any evidence to back the statement "The show is among Comedy Central's most popular" up? I enjoy the show, but the List of episodes link shows that only re-runs of the first season have been shown for the past two months. Also, when new shows were produced, there was only one new one every week. Compare that to The Daily Show or the Colbert Report, which seem to be commited to producing a new show every weekday, and one would think that Comedy Central has decided to spend signifcantly more money on those shows. --Interiot 14:31, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. "Most popular" might be going too far, but it is true that it is a popular show. Can you get a ratings report for the Mind of Mencia? Dposse 17:00, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Blackface Minstrelsy"[edit]

I removed this category because, unless I am unaware of another use for this term, this program has nothing to do with either blackface or minstrel shows. --Do Not Talk About Feitclub (contributions) 08:19, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs some clean up?[edit]

The article is in need of some seriosu clean-up. It is almost entirely composed of quotes from his soe, and pretty much an entire skit was added to the quotes section. Shouldn't all of that be moved to Wikiquote and then information on the actual show itself be expanded? Senner 02:48, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah i agree this article is barely about the show itself but about stuff in

the show the article also needs to be rearanged so the information doesnt seem awkward.Zach 06:59, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I haven't watched an entire episode of show before but I agree this article needs to be cleaned up. This line in this article just strikes a nerve for me: Despite the criticism Mind of Mencia ranks as one of Comedy Central's highest rated programs (although it maintains a 4.4 out of 10 on IMDb) First off, the uncited sentence probably refers "rate" as in Neilsen ratings meaning for advertising purposes of audience size (it was unclear), while the parenthesis part just out of sudden brings the topic a popular website's users voting of the "quality" of the television program. IMDB's scores are not scientific and probably reflect the opinions only of certain demographics. (white and young males are probably the majority of IMDB users) IMDB's user ratings are pretty much trivial web polls. I highly doubt the majority of Mind of Mencia audience have been or even heard of IMDB. --Oskar Mayer Nguyener 05:48, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Seeeeriously. I love trivia sections and stuff, but this one is terrible. It just repeats stuff about the sketches. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.122.63.142 (talk) 16:36, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Mencia[edit]

Can somebody please verify whether or not Joseph Mencia has appeared in episodes 205 and 206 and please add the appropiate appearances/exclusions to the triva section? Please add that he has appeared in episode 207. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.191.115.198 (talk)

There has been an edit war going on over Joseph Mencia. People keep changing it between him being Carlos' cousin and his brother. They have both stated that they are brothers, I'm not quite sure where the cousin thing arose from. I've yet to find any hard evidence that he is actually Carlos' cousin, but the edits have said that Carlos has admitted this himself.--DavidFuzznut 21:28, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia Opinion?[edit]

Under trivia, the "fact" "Brad Williams a dwarf who has appeared on multiple episodes is actually a very funny comedian" seems more of an opinion than any fact about the show. I took the liberty of removing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bigolfish (talkcontribs)

Second Highest Rated Show??[edit]

On the Mind of Mencia article it says "Despite the controversy, Mind of Mencia is Comedy Central's second highest rated program (behind South Park).". On The Colbert Report article in the part titled Reception it says "The Daily Show, which itself has Comedy Central's second-largest viewership.". One of them is wrong. I'm not sure which one though.NeoJustin 22:08, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd guess viewership is different from ratings, but I don't know. Wikibout-Talk to me! 03:58, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, viewership is different from ratings. Viewership is more like the population of people who have seen a certain program, while ratings are more like percentages of the total households who are watching television in a certain time period. --Oskar Mayer Nguyener 06:02, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds "more like" you are talking out of your ass there Oskar

Guest Stars[edit]

Pretty soon we should make a guest star column, as a good number have been on. I could have sworn I saw the real Tom Cruise in the MI: Threesome skit, but it was only for a second, so I am unsure. Gene Simmons has been on the show focused on what women want.~for sure Bobby Lee, who has been mentioned under Trivia, also with Jamie Kennedy and Tracy Morgan ~for sure Tony Hawk-also under trivia~ for sure Jamie Kennedy-the butt pirate skit~for sure Tracy Morgan~ for sure Dave Attell in the hooker skit. btw I was watching Mencia while making this, so these I type "for sure" on are there. His Wife~ is it necassary? Joseph~nescassary? A group of old people on todays world discussion.~necessary? A choir seeing dee-dee-dee~necessary? Lets get some more in, I might do it soon though. --WhereAmI 02:34, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't Tom Cruise, it's the same guy that played him in "Mencia's Religious Royal Rumble". And somebody please get the name of the "voiceover dude" from season one, because it is not Don LaFontaine nor Hal Douglas, and he did the voiceover for "Mission Impossible: Threesome". A guest list, including Joseph Mencia, Brad Williams, Steve Trevino, Cheech Marin and all others stated above can be added once the DVD of the second season comes out. 24.191.110.18 01:28, 29 November 2006 (UTC)SocBy19[reply]

  • It's most likely Pablo Francisco. The two of them often tour together, they're good friends, he is renowned for his "voiceover guy" voice, and I'm pretty sure he's done it on other sketches like the Butt Pirates sketch and Wetback Mountain.--DavidFuzznut 21:32, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dee Dee Dee[edit]

Dee Dee Dee and the criticism. Carlos has responeded to that especially well in the Dee Dee Dee awards, where he had someone come in who had Cerebral palsy and explainded its for people lacking the common sense, like in the article here. It also showed the man with Cerebral palsy calling other Dee Dee Dee's. Someone who has seen this episode recently, and writes some good articles add this in. --WhereAmI 02:34, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I edited the page it was to neg POV

I am not going to lie but it sound more like "Duu Duu Duu" the "Dee Dee Dee"--4.153.197.71 01:18, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but captions and titles, etc. always call it "dee dee dee", so... FruitMart 02:36, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Rogan puts the Fear Factor into Carlos Mencia[edit]

Speedy deletion[edit]

The article claims notability - I think, based on the reasoning given, that this qualified as a bad-faith nomination. RJASE1 Talk 18:19, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Say what you will about Mencia (I personally could care less), but he is notable by Wikipedia standards. The speedy delete nom is definitely in bad faith. Realkyhick 18:22, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Must there be a "List of sketches on Mind of Mencia?"[edit]

The names of the sketches aren't really all that important to the show, as it doesn't help to "describe" the show. DiamondDragon contact 17:49, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think there should be it is a main part of the show. Many users actually use this article for that information MSanchez252 02:31, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, it's already removed. DiamondDragon contact 03:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

?[edit]

In the opening rant of Season 3, Mencia lifts material from both South Park's episode Grey Dawn with an old woman who comments she drives through farmer's markets and Robot Chicken with an angry man saying he's going to Pimp His Sister. This is the most recent incident of Mencia stealing jokes.

--Not necessarily. The South Park episode you speak of was based on a man who died after driving through a Farmers Market.Mencia probably heard about it and added it to the skit.As for the "Pimp my Sister" as you said, the line is "Pimp my Daughter" not sister. And the last time I checked "daughter" is not the same as "sister". --- cancerboy153 ?

The Trivia sucks[edit]

The number of the bullitens in the trivia I'm going to erase are: 1,5,6,7,9,10,11. My Reasons are: 1)There's reference to Josephs number of appearences on the show. This doesn't matter. 5)Obviously the fact that the fictional Ghost of Johnnie Cochran is in the show is irrelevant to the article. 6)The names of sketches performed more than once is irrelevant. 7)Using his real name is irrelevant. 9)The puppets from "No Strings Attached" info is not needed and irrelevant. 10)Gabriel Iglesias is already mentioned in the Occasional/Guest appearances section. 11)This explains the joke Carlos' skit was making and it is irrelevant.

Trivia is frowned upon in Wikipedia. Generally, I like trivia, but this trivia is just pathetic.[[User:SxeFluff--SxeFluff (talk) 06:28, 21 November 2007 (UTC)]] 00:34, 21 November 2007[reply]

I've reviewed my work and there is one more bulliten I'd like to erase: number 4. 4)Josh Blue is already mentioned in the Occasional/Guest apearences section.

Please, no more bad trivia.[[User:SxeFluff--SxeFluff (talk) 06:41, 21 November 2007 (UTC)]] 00:46, 21 November 2007[reply]

SOME one add the stuff about him stealing jokes please! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.206.252.23 (talk) 05:15, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I second this. I mean this guy is a hack commedia. He's terrible and unoriginal to boot. There is also no way he is the second move viewed show on comedy central. Cobert and Jon Stewart are both watched more. He is a joke thief I'd have fired him from comedy central after the first episode. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.223.206 (talk) 23:50, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recurring characters section[edit]

This section sucks. I have a couple of reasons to point out the flaws of this section. 1)Judge Carlos: doesn't have any words describing this character. 2)Carlosaurrus rex: basically a playback of a skit performed by Carlos. 3)Johnny Chochran: no complaints, expect for the fact that it's way too short of a section. And thats too big of a problem. 4) Punji: very explanative and better than the other sections (no big accomplishment), but it contains a link to an editing page. Why? I want some feed back on how to improve this area of the article (although the entire article does suck and it could use some MAJOR adjustments) or I'm erasing this section because it is not helping the article. Paul Mooney[edit]

You all forgot to mention the fact that Paul Mooney has been on that show quite a few times, most notably playing The Ghost of Johnnie Chrocine. Dewdude (talk) 01:06, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are they canceling this show?[edit]

I heard that they might be canceling this show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Funnybags (talkcontribs) 16:45, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As of right now i found nothing to back this claim up! So if there is no source that said it was cancelled then we consider still running. 173.64.67.219 (talk) 01:53, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It appears from the show's blog that it was cancelled way back in July 2008. --JHP (talk) 03:11, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
