Shaara's Military Service[edit]

I seem to recall reading in a couple of web pages (unfortunately I can't reference them or find them anymore) that Shaara was a paratroop officer who served during the Korean War. The dates don't add up for him to have been able to enlist in the Army upon reaching the age of enlistment at the time (in 1946), rise to the rank of sergeant, serve out his enlistment and still have graduated from Rutgers in 1951, the year after the start of the Korean War. It seems much more likely, based on his age and year of graduation, that he went directly to college after high school and then served in the Army after finishing college. Can anyone ascertain the actual facts? PhantomWSO (talk) 05:10, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't say anything about serving in the War in his bio on his son's site, here http://www.jeffshaara.com/michael_shaara.asp --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 13:34, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
