Untitled[edit]

I happened upon the entry under my name and found the box stating that the article contains unsubstantiating claims about a living person and references are needed. Due to a conflict of interest, I cannot correct or edit the article myself. The following is given to aid future editing.

I don't know who created the entry about me. I see that it has evolved. And now that there is a marker about unsupported claims. All the claims about my date of birth, education, and accademic employment can be verified by going to the UNC Philosophy Department website and looking under my name under the Emeritus Professors. There is a link to my CV there. (Of course, it is just a piece of paper supporting another piece of paper. How else can one verify my birthdate and place of birth except via a piece of paper!) Other than that there is the claim that I am a leading philosophy of mathematics and decision theory. I would delete the words "decision theory". Although I have received emails and verbal communications praising my book, Choices, it is an introduction to decision theory and logical and philosophical issues concerning it. Other than that I have not made important contributions to decision theory. As to the claim that I am a leading contemporary philosopher of mathematics, I think that this is fair. Sections of philosophy of mathematics reference books, Shapiro's Thinking About Mathematics, and his Handbook of Logic and Philosophy of Mathematics, are devoted to mathematical structuralism and my articulation of it. In any case, one could revise the claim so that is factual and less evaluative and simply says that I am a philosopher of mathematics. Finally, I am now in the land grading business and reside in Chatham County, NC. This can be verified by going to my website, www.collinsmountaingrading.com.
