birth

I have been searching for information about this guy's date of birth...it is not on his Senate page, or anywhere on the Colorado state page. You'd think it'd be easier to find information about the DOB of a senator from Colorado... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.232.98.141 (talk) 02:43, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

as to date of birth, New York Times states he is age 32 on October 27, 1997 and Denver Post reports that he is age 44 on December 16, 2008, so therefore he was born at some point after October 27, 1964 and before December 16, 1964 if the 2 newspapers are correct. I have a scanned picture

I will post it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.75.157 (talk) 22:20, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with copyright rules that force some pictures to be deleted. There is one on the Denver public schools website, is that kosher? http://communications.dpsk12.org/newsroom/353/224/ --Muboshgu (talk) 14:07, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Pronunciation?

Is his name pronounced "BEN-A" or "BEN-IT"? (This info should be added to the article to alleviate confusion.)

His name is pronounced "BEN-IT". Njcronk (talk) 13:43, 31 July 2010 (UTC) njcronk

health reform

I urge you not to vote for the Prsidents health insuranc program —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.118.207.14 (talk) 23:51, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

I recommend you contact the Senator's office to share your opinion on legislation. It is unlikely his staff is monitoring the talk page of his Wikipedia entry with enough frequency for your comment to be noticed in a timely fashion. Janus303 (talk) 05:31, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Michael S. Bennett and Michael F. Bennet, both Senators

Recently Florida Senator Michael S. Bennett (Republican), made the news for looking at porn on Senate floor, however a search for "Michael Bennet" brings up Colorado Senator Michael Bennet (Democrat, the person from this page). These are two different people, Bennet and Bennett are very similar, is it possible to edit the disambiguation and make it more clear? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.228.131.157 (talk) 16:39, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Content

This whole article sounds like it was writen by Bennet's campaign staff and just dumped here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.54.8.45 (talk) 22:05, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Inconsistent Wikipedia standards?

Controversies: This Senator is involved in a very heated primary race (7/2010). The contoversies section lists accusations against him which have not been proven. Every public official has conspiracy theorists and critics trying to destroy their credibility with accusations. What allows these particular ones to be listed here? Also, his election race opponent, Andrew Romanoff, also has accusations against him from his long tenure as a legislator in CO. Why are those not listed on his page? It seems the standars enforced on these two individuals may be inconsistent. Thank you for looking into this matter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Njcronk (talkcontribs) 13:55, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Other Controversies as Reported in the New York Times?

Controversies. As New York Times readers today, 8/6/2010 have seen (front page of the printed version, headlines of the online version, written by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Gretchen Morgenson) the tenure of Sen. Bennet as the supt. of the Denver Public Schools was scandalous, financially ruinous, and seemingly under-reported. It now appears that Bennet was making spectacular bets which resulting in massive debts and financial catastrophe for the Public Schools, and that he was making good on the links he already had with Morgan Stanley from his Anschutz years, and which have been renewed via campaign contributions and payback while in the US Senate. Why aren't these included in this article - at least the link to the New York Times article? <http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/06/business/06denver.html>

The article does include a link to the collected NYT coverage of Michael Bennet. There's also the Denver Post coverage, which has some articles rebutting that NYT article specifically and in great detail. The best, however, is Charles Babbington's Come and see Colorado's 3-ring political circus piece. btw - never, ever, believe any 'shocking expose' story that appears this close to an election. Debate for the Senate Seat: 10/29/2010

While watching the subject debate on the Denver PBS TV outlet, Channel 12, I sought validation for a particular statement Sen. Bennet made. Specifically that, in rebutting his opponent, he made emphatic reference to the many. many times he had argued high profile trials, particularly of the more tragic/violent types of rape cases. In reading this article to the end, I noticed the last date of update is tomorrow (10/30). It makes no mention of his legal career and practicing sensitive litigations in the court room.

Sen. Bennet also made a clear statement to his deep involvement in writing the recently-passed healthcare legislation. He stated he modeled the plan on the highly successful program created by the town of Grand Junction, CO. His opponent had just completed a detailed description of that town's creative, one-off program.

Sen. Bennet's trial career and authoring of the healthcare bill should be included in the main article, complete with footnotes for verification. Both events obviously happened before tomorrow.

Also, election to a class position, like treasurer, while in the K-12 system does not qualify as a public service positionCite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).. This should be removed from the article.

The former is a bigger project than I'm up for at the moment but I did remove the treasurer thing and filled in early career timeline based on existing references. --Kvng (talk) 15:02, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Lead

The lead seems far too long to me. Anyone object to me cutting it down? Arbor8 (talk) 21:26, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Just make sure it gives an overview of every section of the article, and not just the last 4 years of his career (as the vast majority of politician articles do). —Designate (talk) 21:30, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

"increased student learning"

I am going to remove the vague claim (found in the section "Career before U.S. Senate") that the Denver school district "increased student learning" while Bennet was superintendent. It is a meaningless phrase.Pennsylvaniachoochoo (talk) 17:28, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

Place of Birth

There seems to be some dispute as to the subject's place of birth. I have found various sources (listed below) which say that his place of birth is "New Delhi, India", but there apparently is some dispute. As editors of Wikipedia, I think and would hope that our intentions would be to place only accurate information in the article. If there are more reliable sources which I have missed which say that his birthplace was not as stated in these sources, then we should definitely take that into consideration. I have no qualms over changing information shown to be incorrect. But if no sources or questionable sources are offered for an alternative birthplace, we cannot simply change the sourced biographical information for original research per WP:ORIGINAL. Rather than add new sources, I used a source already in the same paragraph that supports his birthplace:
"Bennet is born Nov. 28, 1964, in New Delhi..."
Mitchell, Nancy (January 24, 2009). "Bennet's tale steeped in family roots". Rocky Mountain News. Archived from the original on March 1, 2009. Retrieved August 5, 2016.

Awesome. Yeah, I am not sure what the other user was on about. If there is another edit to his birthplace without any engagement on the talk page here and/or provision of source(s) by the same user, I am inclined to involve a noticeboard. Apoorva Iyer (talk) 22:32, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

New lead image

Following suit with Dick Durbin and Bernie Sanders, these outdated official portraits from a decade ago should be replaced with recent images. Here's some potential replacements and let's vote as to whether we should change the image. I personally favor D. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 01:08, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Coronavirus

My name is Steven Ferris and I’m classified an independent voter. I have been watching the cbs news in Denver and there have been several advertisement regarding various medical conditions. However I haven’t seen any regarding the coronavirus vaccine. It seems like this would be a great place to put the information that is available and an especially good place to send the message about how effective the vaccine is. Just a thought. 184.96.173.56 (talk) 01:22, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Indian?

I note that Bennet is in a number of categories related to being Indian but it doesn't seem that he holds an Indian passport or identifies publicly in any way with being Indian. I am going to remove those categories for BLP purposes.--User:Namiba 11:59, 4 April 2022 (UTC)
