Psych 101 Critique[edit]

I agree that the writers block information should be on it's own page and that mental block should be the topic of this. You could branch out from this page if you wanted to write about writers block. Also, when you wrote the heading for your contribution, you didn't capitalize "block" when you should have. Other than that, it was good information, just not in the right place.--Cypridophobia (talk) 21:26, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Psych 101 Critic[edit]

This article needs lots of improvment. It needs more information about what exactly a mental block is, how they occur, what you could do to help; and the article needs serveral references to go along with the imformation. Sillymonkey29 (talk) 03:46, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article is poorly done. I'm a curious person wanting to know what a Mental Block is. I am wanting to know what people do if they have them and how they come upon in someones life. MissyB.Seagraves (talk)

Corrections for Psych 101[edit]

The information you had originally added got deleted, you can see what was there in this revision, and yours is in the yellow. The person who deleted it had written that they don't believe that writer's block should be covered in so much detail on the page. I do agree with that statement since the article is on Mental Blocks. Something I would have done is written 'Mental blocks are sometimes confused with the term Writer's Block. Writer's Block is somewhat similar to mental blocks, however, writer's block only occur in writing; whereas mental blocks are associated with many different things. Mental blocks are often seen in sports due to the amount of pressure they are under.' Sillymonkey29 (talk) 16:01, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Psych 101 Review[edit]

Instead of saying Writer's Block like you did you should have stuck with Mental Block. You could explain how mental blocks stop us from thinking creativly and that could cause writer's block. You could also explain the types of mental blocks and how to get past them.RRLukasek (talk) 16:32, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

you should explain the other types of mental blocks. Then explain how to get rid of those blocks. Jm177455 (talk) 00:52, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Critical Kyle[edit]

I would focus less on what writers block is or when it occurs and more content on how it is caused or what people can do to prevent it; also could use more reliable sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Madscientist29 (talkcontribs) 20:36, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dealing with mental block[edit]

Some great ways to help deal with mental block are changing locations, work for atleast 20 minutes, but don't go over 30 minutes, skip anything that's too difficult, and do something completely random. Changing locations will help your mind to have a fresh start. By working for only 20 minutes, your mind won't be overworked. If something's too difficult, then you will just get frustrated and want to quit, so skip that and continue on the easy stuff. Doing something random will help to clear your mind and new solutions to the problem will come into your brain.[1]

Explaining the major edits I made[edit]

I made edits throughout the whole Wikipedia article, "Mental blocks" because it lacked clarity on many of the terms and processes mentioned. I did fix a few grammar mistakes from the original author and made terms clearer for people with no background information on this subject. Many hours of research on this topic lead me to discover more terms/theories that could be included here, so that's why I added them (i.e. decay theory, confirmation bias, etc.). The original author of this article had really great information, but lacked the "why's" and "how's". I found many studies done for each section of this article that explained why people are curious about mental blocks and what researchers have and are trying to still understand.

I believe the edits and additional information I provided, gave this article more depth and an adequate explanation of the topic. I took all the comments from this Talk page into consideration when writing to improve this. The article is not only doubled in its original size from added content, but it's meaningful and should be easy to read for almost anyone interested in this.
