Base[edit]

It was based at Gibraltar? In Spanish or British territory? Drutt 17:43, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The squadron was based in British Gibraltar. Stephen Decatur was involved in a notable dueling incident there which briefly strained relations between the two forces. --Columbia clipper (talk) 15:55, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Odd detail of history. Was this arrangement part of a formal treaty between the two nations? Drutt (talk) 09:08, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Truxton[edit]

Should Thomas Truxton be listed among the commanders? He was assigned as commander of the squadron in January 1802, but refused it in March of the same year, lest he be assigned a flag captain (he wasn't), when word reached him of his orders. --Columbia clipper (talk) 15:55, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Enterprize[edit]

According to the American Battle Monuments Commission plaques at the Gibraltar Naval Monument the correct spelling is Enterprize and not Enterprise! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C4:A304:DB00:B969:7AD6:D27D:26EA (talk) 20:16, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
