How many mayors?[edit]

The St. Louis Public Library says there have been 49 mayors in St. Louis.[1] Mayor Francis Slay's own website says he is the 45th mayor.[2] Who's right? --Millbrooky (talk) 22:38, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions[edit]

I'm trying to get this list to FL status, but there are a few exact dates and date ranges that still elude me. Anybody know of any sources that fill in this information? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Concerns about numbering scheme[edit]

Hello all,

I have some concerns about the numbering scheme currently used in the article. As it stands, mayors who held two nonconsecutive terms, of whom there are four, are not given another number in the order for their nonconsecutive term. (Example: William Carr Lane, who served as the 1st mayor, again served after 4th mayor John Fletcher Darby, where he's labeled as... 1st mayor. Darby then served AGAIN, and the man after him, John D. Daggett, is listed as the 5th.) For most offices, this isn't usually how it's done: see the FAs Mayor of San Francisco (Charles James Brenham) and of course Grover Cleveland, the POTUS we know and love. The impact of this is, in this case, pretty severe: Tishaura Jones ends up not being the 47th mayor but instead the 51st. I didn't want to make any change to it yet, so I'm leaving this here to hear other peoples' thoughts. Thanks. AllegedlyHuman (talk) 09:09, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
