Series Name[edit]
The name of the series seems to be "MasterChef Junior" not "Junior MasterChef" like the UK series according to the on-air advertisements and the official FOX website. L'papillon (talk) 17:11, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
- I knew they had changed it around, but was under the impression it was changed back. Maybe not? If the official Fox website goes with "MasterChef Junior", then we should change it.
- However, the MasterChef Junior article is a redirect back to here, so I think that requires an RfD. Nick1372 (talk) 19:06, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Last names of living people[edit]
Wikipedia disallows claims of personal information about living people without a highly reliable-source citation, such as newspaper or magazine articles. The policy at WP:BLP is especially acute when it comes to the purported last names of children, which in this case the show's website does not give. A quick Google search finds RS websites using first names only, and the one that didn't, some very minor entertainment site, appears to have lifted the last names from this Wikipedia article.
- Both the New Yotk Daily News and Entertainment Weekly Online include the last names of the two finalists. "The winner of MasterChef Junior season 1 is Alexander" in the article sticks out like a sore thumb - at least without any mention as to why last names aren't included (e.g. "The show did not use any of the contestants' last names, either on the air or in press releases," and possibly include a reference to Wikipedia policy about this). -- That Don Guy (talk) 23:21, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Reformatting of Article[edit]

I agree with reformatting. This show seems to have some legs and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a 3rd+ season. Can we protect this article? These IP users are constantly messing with the article by putting a random premiere date for the upcoming season of MasterChef Junior, adding unsourced or poorly sourced content, edit warring, reverting the changes anonymous users just made and just thinking what they believe in, and by that, they are continuing to add new dates for the upcoming season of MasterChef Junior, which they shouldn't be doing, only the Fox Broadcasting Company does. They just add these dates just to get it back on the schedule because they've waited long enough for the season to premiere, which needs to stop right now. Episode updating[edit]
FYI- Not getting to it just yet for seasons 6 & 7 (though since it hasn't aired, it was easy to do it for season 8, so I've already done it), but the 'Road to the Finale' episodes currently listed here should be moved to their respective season articles. While they are still 'special' episodes in comparisons to the rest of the episodes within the season, they still pertain to that season and should not belong there. The "An Extra Serving" and "Celebrity Showdown" episodes should remain there, however.
After moving the two RttF episodes for seasons 6 and 7, there will likely be a slight numbering change by two episodes, just wanting to put that out there before there's any confusion regarding that. Also noting that while given an 'SP' production code, the season 8 RttF episode is counted for the season total, as per The Futon Critic, which currently lists, "CURRENT SEASON: 8 (16 episodes)". - Also, I don't think we should move the previous seasons "Road to the Finale" episodes into their main seasons unless we can prove that they were included in that season's episode count. I'm not disagreeing that (for whatever reason) S8 is including the special in its episode count, but I don't recall that being done in the past. - The production code doesn't automatically make the determination in that/this case. While it is infact the production code FOX has given it, the sources (as mentioned above regarding TFC, as well as Zap2it) support that it is part of the season.
- What would make this much easier is if FOX included the number of episodes in their renewal announcements ("renewed for a #th season of # episodes"), but of course FOX needs to make it more difficult... Magitroopa (talk) 15:56, 15 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Magitroopa: Agreed on your comment above. I still think the best compromise is to list the S8 special in both places (MCJ S8 article and main MCJ article), since it's confirmed that the S8 special is being included in the S8 episode count, and it's also confirmed that it's a special. As for previous seasons' specials, I don't think we should copy them to their respective seasons unless we can prove with certainty that those specials are also included in that seasons' episode counts. - SanAnMan (talk) 16:30, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

Proposal: Remove pink/blue backgrounds from all contestant names in all tables of MasterChef and MasterChef Junior[edit]
A recent editor attempted to change the colors of some contestant names in MasterChef and MasterChef Junior articles due to some contestants identifying as a different gender than their biological sex. This made me think that the use of the pink and blue backgrounds (to identify female/male contestants) is no longer needed seeing how gender identification has become more fluid. Bottom line, I don't think there's a need to have a pink or blue background for any contestant in either series any longer. I'm welcoming any feedback on this, but if no one comments on this within a few days, I plan on being WP:BOLD and removing the colors altogether.
