Untitled[edit]

I met a student at WPI who was in the Academy program, who did not know what 7 x 7 was. This is not a joke.

Since Academy students are required to take some form of Calculus courses Senior year, I'm not sure what this is trying to accomplish. I am not too familiar with the guidelines; should this be removed?130.215.112.163 (talk) 15:44, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The following content has been removed:

== The End of Mass Academy == In 2009, the continuation of the Mass Academy Program was in jeopardy. Due to state budget cuts, the students of the class of 2010 were sent back to their public schools. The students of 2011 were denied entry into the program.

This was done because this is not true. State budget cuts have indeed put the Academy program into jeopardy, but no decisive action has been taken as of this posting. The Academy program is in the proposed budget by the Massachusetts Governor. Mass Academy was removed from the House budget, but an amendment is currently making its way through the house. The Senate has not released their budget.

Current Academy students are actually in the process of selecting courses at WPI. If the Academy does close, it is likely that WPI will allow the class of 2010 to continue on as the final Academy class. Although the closure of the Academy would prevent new students from enrolling, the Academy has not been closed. Indeed, letters of acceptance should be sent out to the class of 2011 in the next few weeks. El Capitaine (talk) 03:52, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
