Not a Marquis?[edit]

I have a Chinese S & A king list, where Xiaozi of Jin is deliberately noted that unlike preceding rulers of Jin, he was not a Marquis (Hou), and that he held a lower rank ("non-Hou"). Another source speculates the "-zi" in his name might indicate viscount (zi), thus placing him below the 'count' (bo) rank of Wu of Xuwo, which made him answerable to the latter's "summons" to Quwo in 705 (and subsequent execution). Yet another source proposes the name "Xiaozi" indicates that he ascended the throne before his father was dead (i.e. Marquis of Ai was still being held captive at the time, and was only executed later). Can anyone corroborate or confirm his rank of Marquis? Or the meaning of "Xiaozi"? If he was a ruler of Jin but not a marquis (for some technical reason), then the article title should be changed, or at least the ambiguity noted. Walrasiad (talk) 05:17, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
