The result of the move request was: No consensus. Not surprised by this outcome. What I'm going to do is create two new move requests following this discussion. One: Maria Amalia of Austria → Maria Amalia, Holy Roman Empress. Second: Archduchess Maria Amalia of Austria → Maria Amalia of Austria, Duchess of Parma. – These are two ambiguous titles and I have no idea why they are the way they are. They were both archduchesses. I have proposed dates as a simple and straightforward resolution, but since many Wikipedians do not like dates in titles I would propose as alternates Maria Amalia of Austria, Duchess of Parma and Maria Amalia (empress). The reason these titles are the way they are is WP:NCROY. The titles of articles about queens and empresses consort are supposed to follow the [Name] of [Place] format while the articles about other royal women are to follow [Title] [Name] of [Place]. Thus Maria Amalia of Austria and Archduchess Maria Amalia of Austria. That, of course, is inherently flawed and makes sense only to the Wikipedians who wrote that guideline and those who became used to it. Compare with Juliana of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, where WP:NCROY calls only for the consort to have a royal style in the title. Anyway, I would prefer the titles to the dates for the sake of recognizability (WP:NCDAB). Surtsicna (talk) 11:01, 7 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose using dates as disambiguators; WP:CONSORTS says "Deceased consorts are referred to by a name by which they are commonly known", so we don't have to stick with the current titles. Support something like Maria Amalia, Duchess of Parma and Maria Amalia, Holy Roman Empress, as the titles by marriage are clearer disambiguators. DrKay (talk) 16:28, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose first and keep as is per WP:NATURALDIS and WP:PRECISE. As for the second, I would support Maria Amalia of Austria → Maria Amalia, Holy Roman Empress per DrKay as the best concise and precise title available. - But Archduchess Maria Amalia of Austria is not precise or natural disambiguation. The word "archduchess" is no disambiguation at all because both were archduchesses. Support Maria Amalia, Duchess of Parma. I was going to close this requested move with a move to the shorter suggestion, but then I thought that might be a bit of a supervote, so I'll comment instead. The married name is a much clearer disambiguator and the shorter suggestion is more concise and is also more consistent with Maria Amalia, Holy Roman Empress.
