Schreiber retained Lalonde[edit]

How come there is no mention of Schreibler retaining the services of Marc Lalonde? On Wednesday, Mulroney mentions that Schreiber told him that he had retained Marc Lalonde to lobby the Liberal government while they were having coffee in 1993.

On Thursday, Wolson asks Mulroney why he volunteered that Schreibler had retained Lalonde during his 1996 trial but not that he himself had been retained. I think that Mulroney did so to indicate that if they did not drop this and award him his defamation suit that he was going to drag the Liberals through the mud using Lalonde as the vehicle. Indirectly, Lalonde may have played a role in Mulroney winning his defamation suit.

Even if it is true, this addition by User:70.72.176.167 is rather non-neutrally stated:

When the Liberals returned to power in the 1980 election, Lalonde became Minister of Energy and instituted the National Energy Policy which became intensely unpopular in Alberta, as it resulted in thousands of Albertans loosing their wealth and a large increase in suicide rates in the province.

I've modified it to state merely that the NEP adversely affected the Alberta oil industry. Also, I wish people would learn the difference between "losing" and "loosing". --Saforrest 23:26, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like something from a second-grader's report card. Could somebody elaborate as to what Mr. Lalonde was helpful with or about?
