Quality assessment and needs for improvement[edit]

The following text was added to the talk page of User:Maclean25, who contributed this article's recent quality assessment (as C-class):

Hello User:Maclean25, and thanks for your rapid quality assessment of Mantram Handbook. When or if you get the time, I would be interested in your appraisal (e.g., added to the book's talk page), of what changes/fixes you think the article would need in order to qualify for the next higher quality level, i.e., B-class. (NB: Though I've so far only partially implemented your suggestions for Kristubhagavatam, the remaining suggestions you offered are like precious money in the bank that can be turned to when next addressing the article!). Many thanks -- Health Researcher (talk) 18:45, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Health Researcher, this is a great article here. With respect to the B-Class criteria here are my comments:
  1. suitably referenced with inline citations - good, thorough use of reviews and secondary sources.
  2. reasonably covers the topic - has the basic components. The only thing extra I like to see, as I mentioned in the previous reviews elsewhere, is a little something on where the book came from (e.g. why/how the author came to write the book, what makes him qualified to do so, etc.) to provide some additional context.
  3. defined structure - content is organized, good formatting.
  4. reasonably well-written some repetition in the Reviews section but otherwise engaging.
  5. supporting materials where appropriate - valid fair use rationale on book cover.
  6. presents its content in an appropriately understandable way - once I figured out mantrum = mantra I was good.
  • I think the intro (WP:LEAD) could be boosted with some additional descriptive content. Have you considered moving the article to The Mantram Handbook? Upon this closer inspection, I think the article does meet the B-class criteria. I encourage you boost the lead a little (perhaps a second paragraph which describes the content?) and nominate it for GA-class. maclean (talk) 02:49, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
