Jackson's Tiger[edit]

Isn't P. tigris. jacksoni considered a synonym?--94.69.236.92 (talk) 18:11, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Vice versa. The Malaysian name was given after, and I don't think it was published in a print journal, so it may be invalid. —innotata 15:37, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Murder of Eko[edit]

On December 29, 2021, Eko, a young MT, was murdered in the Naples Zoo. A man hired by a third-party vendor to clean bathrooms decided to enter the enclosure and Eko grabbed him, so a cop came and murdered Eko instead of, for example, shooting him in the leg to scare him away. Only 80 survive in the world, due to the usual anthropogenic causes, poaching, use for sexual human invigoration, habitat loss, source of food, trophy collection, etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum. I posted that news under "captivity." Elmidae deleted it based on "doesn't belong here." Why, Elmidae? Where else does it belong? Can you suggest where. Instead of deleting relevant comment why not be constructive and leave it be, or post it elsewhere. You chose to delete it. Eighty of these beauties remain in our pathetic world and zoos are, until yesterday, their only safe haven. Please explain or put the content back. Thank you.

As I said on my talk page: this is an encyclopedia, not a news archive. This ocurrence is not WP:RELEVANT to the topic Malayan tiger and therefore should not be part of the article. YMMV, of course. Leaving the emoting out of the discussion is helpful in any case. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 18:56, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Fully agree that this news is not relevant here. – BhagyaMani (talk) 19:00, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1. You misspelled occurrence. 2. Millions of bits of information in WP were once news, e.g. the deaths of celebrities, their divorces, the verdict in high-profile cases, the discovery of Higgs, Russian annexation of the Crimea, covid stats, etc. 3. Please cease using the WP inscrutable jargon for whatever your purposes, YMMV??? 3. Eighty MT's remain. The article discusses their being critically endangered. The Naples zoo is supposedly part of a captive breeding program, although Eko remained totally unvisited and alone since the transfer in 2019. The murder of the MT seems indeed QUITE RELEVANT, your opinions notwithstanding. 4. If the "emoting" is removed, would you be comfortable with a revision?

Read the info in WP:NOTNEWS. – BhagyaMani (talk) 19:12, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WP rules are not the arbiter of truth. Malayan tiger gets an average of 225 views over the last three months. If tomorrow we see that today's page views are five or ten times as much, THEN IT IS NEWS as judged by the English-speaking world and I will consider putting emotion-less content back. Until then let the poaching continue in search of ground-up claws to put into one's tea that enable desperate men to get erections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:5651:2780:5D67:1F2B:F593:AF32 (talk) 20:48, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A joke. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:5651:2780:5D67:1F2B:F593:AF32 (talk) 23:38, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Naples Zoo is supposedly a captive breeding location but since Eko's fatal transfer not a single incident of visitation, in vitro, or introduction of a mate has occurred. The unauthorized incursion during the night was a featured piece on national network news on December 30, 2021, from, for example, 5:41 to 5:43 pm on network ABC News. Yet some WP editors feel it is not noteworthy enough for inclusion. Wait until tomorrow and see the number of page views explode.

Tne number of page views increased by more than a factor of twelve after nationwide network news coverage on ABC, CBS, and NBC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:5651:2780:8F7:1437:2C42:69AF (talk) 12:43, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Gallery[edit]

@BhagyaMani: you're the most WP:IDONTLIKEIT IVE EVER SEEN. STOOOP REMOVING THE IMAGES! LITERALLY STOP. IM WITH THE RIGHT THIS TIME AND YOU'RE GOING NOWHERE WITH "LETS PULL A READ THE WP:GALLERY ON THIS GUY BECAUSE I DONT LIKE IMAGES". ALOT OF PAGES USE <gallery> AND IS THERE FOR A REASON. YOU JUST DONT WANT IT TO BE USED IN YOUR FAVOURITE TIGERS AND LIONS PAGES.Punetor i Rregullt5 talk to me 04:59, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This guideline on image placement was written for people like you who keep shoehorning images into pages. Read this carefully : Wikipedia is NOT an image repository! See also MOS:IMAGELOCATION. In ALL page reviews that I have seen in the past couple of years, the reviewers always suggested to reduce images to a few relevant ones that illustrate the text. Why do you think that you can just ignore these rules? – BhagyaMani (talk) 15:14, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
